Project Silence (2024)

Fog, Fear, and Mutated Menace on the Bridge

Project Silence is a 2024 South Korean disaster thriller that blends intense suspense, chilling atmosphere, and sci fi horror into a relentless cinematic experience. Directed by Kim Tae gon, the film unfolds on Seoul’s Incheon Airport Bridge, where a sudden, city wide fog triggers a massive vehicle collision and traps a group of survivors in the middle of a nightmare they never imagined.

As chaos erupts, it is revealed that experimental military dogs — genetically engineered to be sound sensitive and deadly — have escaped from a top secret government program known as Project Silence. These creatures, designed for combat, begin hunting anything that makes a sound. The bridge, once a symbol of connection and movement, becomes a death trap where silence is the only way to survive.

The film follows a range of characters, including political aide Cha Jung won, played by Lee Sun kyun, who is traveling with his daughter. Ju Ji hoon adds both tension and levity as a street smart tow truck driver, while Kim Hee won portrays Dr. Yang, the conflicted scientist who helped create the monstrous animals. Together, these characters must navigate not only the physical threat of the dogs but also the moral consequences of human ambition and military experimentation.

Review - 'Project Silence' - cuộc chiến sinh tồn

Visually, Project Silence impresses with thick, haunting fog, wrecked vehicles, and creature effects that add to the oppressive tension. The sound design is crucial, using silence as both a survival tactic and a storytelling tool. The emotional weight of a father protecting his child adds humanity to the horror, anchoring the film’s high stakes in personal connection.

While it follows familiar genre tropes, Project Silence stands out for its fresh setting, strong performances, and terrifying concept. It asks not just whether we can survive the disaster — but whether we deserve to, after creating it ourselves.
